To find the tenth term of an arithmetic sequence, use the formula:
nth term = first term + (n – 1) times the common difference d.
= a + (n-1) d
In this case, the first term is five, the common difference is three, and the term number is ten.
ie, a = 5
n = 10
d = 3
So,
Tenth term = 5 + (10 − 1) × 3
= 5 + 9 × 3
= 5 + 27
= 32
Answer: Thirty-two
