The qualification to join the Navy varies depending on the entry type (officer or sailor). For officer positions, a 10+2 (12th grade) pass with 70% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and 50% in English is required for the 10+2 (B.Tech) entry, along with a JEE (Mains) rank. For sailors, the Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) entry requires a 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Officer Entries:
10+2 (B.Tech) Entry:
Requires a 12th pass with 70% in PCM and 50% in English, plus a valid JEE (Main) rank.
Short Service Commission (SSC) Entry:
Requires a BE/B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks in relevant fields like Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.
Other Officer Entries:
May require specific postgraduate qualifications or degrees in fields like Science, Engineering, or Humanities.
Sailor Entry (SSR):
10+2 (SSR) Entry: Requires a 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Important Considerations:
Age limits vary depending on the entry type.
Candidates must also meet the physical and medical standards of the Navy.
Some entries may require NCC ‘C’ certificate holders to have a minimum ‘B’ grade and 50% marks in their graduation degree to be exempted from the CDSE.
