Conventional energy sources are typically non-renewable, like fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas), and are used for electricity generation or other energy needs. Non-conventional energy sources are renewable, like solar, wind, and hydro energy, and are increasingly used as alternatives to fossil fuels. One example of harnessing a non-conventional energy source is solar energy, where photovoltaic panels convert sunlight into electricity.
Conventional Energy Sources:
Fossil Fuels: Coal, oil, and natural gas are burned to generate electricity or heat.
Nuclear Energy: Nuclear fission is used to generate heat, which is then used to produce electricity.
Hydro Power: Water from dams is used to turn turbines and generate electricity.
Thermal Power: Heat from burning fossil fuels or nuclear fuel is used to generate electricity.
